The voLANte VDT111 interfaces to third-party controllers to provide a simplified ASCI interface facilitating control and switching of a video distribution network. The VDT111 is compatible with all voLANte video-over-IP products and attaches to the video network at any point to auto-discover and configure voLANte devices. The simplified interface means that switching all displays to one video stream can be accomplished by a single ASCI text line output through the serial port or telnet interface from a PC or laptop.
Simple ASCI Interface
The VDT111 is installed between the voLANte video network and any third-party controller to simplify set-up, installation, operation, and diagnostics. Third-party controllers can now route voLANte video-over-IP streams by simplified commands sent via serial or telnet from a host to the VDT111. Turning off every display in a building can be accomplished through a single ASCI string.
Faster Switching Times
Due to the networked configuration of voLANte video-over-IP distribution systems, control of a display is accomplished by commands sent to the display's receiver. An arbitrarily large video distribution system may have several hundred displays with several hundred receivers - all of which have to be individually addressed to switch video streams. This is in contrast to most traditional analog matrix switches where the command to switch all streams is sent to a single point of control. Third-party controllers have an especially difficult time with video-over-IP devices because the embedded processor speeds are below that of most home PCs. The VDT111 has a multi-core parallel processor operating at Gigahertz speeds that accepts the simplified ASCI commands and then commands the individual units. Switching times with the VDT111 are approximately 100x faster than third-party controllers alone.
